thatgamecompany Announces Giving-Focused Game “Sky” for iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV

Journey and Flow developer thatgamecompany has announced their next game: Sky.

The game is focused on the concept of giving, and is likened to the feeling of visiting a theme park where memories are made. The developer specifically designed the game to be played, shared, and enjoyed with loved ones and family.

In the game, eight people will be able to play and explore together in one seamless experience. It naturally looks like you’ll be doing a lot of flying – or perhaps gliding – through an ethereal sky environment.

Featured above, you can view the announcement trailer for the game. Here are the first screenshots:

A release is set for iOS devices like iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV, however a release window is tentatively set to “coming soon.”

Unless you gain something from it- players rarely “give” to other players. They prefer to work with team-mates or against opponents. With the exception of Nier- that had a fantastic way to encourage people to give something.
Then again, it could be PR guff and have no relation to mechanics.

Were going multiplat this time, still want money from times exclusivity deal, and Apple needs a flagship title to show off.

Also doesn’t help that Sony has little incentive to buy this, given that it’d likely already be associated with their system after Journey.
