Nintendo have announced DLC for Tetris 99 that adds offline features.
Retailing for $9.99, the DLC to the free base game adds CPU Battle and Marathon. CPU battle replicates the online battle against 98 other players with 99 CPU opponents. Marathon is the classic Tetris mode, attempting to get the highest score possible before the blocks become to fast to organize.
The announcement also notes that there will be “An additional offline multiplayer mode will also arrive later this year as part of the Big Block DLC, with more details to follow at a later date.”
It should be clarified that you can download Tetris 99 for free without a Nintendo Switch Online membership, but the membership is still needed to use its online features.
In other news, the 3rd Maximus Cup will also be running for Tetris 99 from May 17th to the 19th. As with prior events, players can earn points even if they are not the last person standing. Accumulating 100 points will earn you a classic Game Boy theme.
Tetris 99 is available now for Nintendo Switch.
