Terraria: Otherworld is Revealed for PC and Mac

Re-Logic and Engine Software have revealed a brand new sandbox game in their Terraria series, dubbed simply Terraria: Otherworld.

Featured above, you can view the debut trailer for the game, which is described as yet another open world sandbox, only now fans can expect the formula to be expanded upon.

Instead of taking place in a typical fantasy world, Terraria: Otherworld is set in an alternate dimension within the Terraria universe. Players will be put into a life-and-death struggle to restore a once-pure world, which is now overrun with an evil force that has tainted nature itself.

Further details were not confirmed, but the game will be shown off at Re-Logic’s booth at GDC this year.

Bet you this game will be done before Starbound.

Naturally. Terraria isn’t a scam with a long trail of lies and broken promises.

Yeah…I’m kinda scratching my head here. Aren’t they suppose to get Starbound off the ground before this game is out?

I’m also hearing some bad stuff going on with Starbound development as well.

Starbound isn’t being headed by the people working on this or Terraria 2. They’re former members of Re-Logic (the people who made Terraria).

AFAIK it was just a couple of spriters that left to form Chucklefish. This was probably why Starbound looked good but didn’t retain any of the fun of Terraria.

Oh I see. Well thanks for clearing that up :) I enjoyed Terraia and was thinking Starbound was also by them but it is not and it kinda reaffirms to me not to get it and get this one instead.

I wouldn’t say Starbound is bad… it’s just late, and suffering from overhype and broken promises.

It’s probably one of the better “Terraria-clones” out there if you’re wanting to scratch your itch before this comes out, but still doesn’t really manage to feel as nice as the original.

Note that the Dev has stated that this isnt Terraria 2.

Aw, I quite like Starbound. :( I don’t return to it every day/week, however, so I suppose the problems and slow progress don’t get to me as much as they would more regular players.

But still, I really like Starbound. :(
