Chinese publisher Tencent has acquired Visual Arts, the parent company of Japanese developer Key – the folks known for Clannad, AIR, and more.
Alongside news of the acquisition of the Japanese company is that Visual Arts CEO Takahiro Baba is stepping down to retire, while Genki Amakumo (Toya Okano) will become the new CEO.
“Visual Arts will remain Visual Arts, and the staff can continue to do what they want to do,” President Baba said.
He added, “We have already received several projects involving major capital. I think we can develop what we want to do, content and games that will move you, in a global genre.”
