Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Trilogy 4K remaster announced

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Trilogy

Arrow Video has announced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Trilogy, a new 4K remastered set of the classic live-action Ninja Turtle films from the 1990s.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Trilogy includes all three films newly remastered in 4K: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (1991), and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III (1993).

The new 4K remaster for all three films was done with a brand new scan of the original 35mm film negatives (interpositives for the second two films) by Arrow Films, and is presented with full Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) for all three classic films.

All three films will have original lossless stereo audio and remixed surround audio tracks, with Dolby Atmos for the first film and DTS-HD MA 5.1 for the latter two films. This is the first time the three films have been remastered in 4K and will be a wonderful upgrade from the original Blu-ray release, came out back in 2009.

Fans of the original films will be delighted with new extras including brand new director’s commentary on all three films, as well as all-new interviews with cast and crew for all three films. A full list of extras will be announced in September, too.

A price for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Trilogy is set at $100 and preorders are now live on Amazon and Arrow Video directly and other retailers, though if you want the version with swanky 2D box art and disc art, you’ll have to order the Arrow Video exclusive version.

Here’s a rundown on the new release:

A shell-shocking saga of mutants, martial arts and New York mayhem, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trilogy brought comic book grit, practical effects wizardry and pizza-fuelled fun to a generation of moviegoers, helping turn four sewer-dwelling brothers into global pop culture icons.

Launching in 1990 with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, director Steve Barron’s gritty, high-energy adaptation of the underground comic became a box office phenomenon, fusing martial arts action, streetwise humour and the groundbreaking animatronics of Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. The 1991 sequel The Secret of the Ooze is an irresistibly fun second slice: a deep-dive into the turtles’ origins where new mutant foes Tokka and Rahzar are thrown in the mix… double the stakes, double the pizza! Rounding out the trilogy, 1993’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III sends the heroes in a half shell back to feudal Japan in a time-travel adventure full of samurai showdowns, ancient legends and comic chaos.

Restored in glorious 4K and packed with extras, this radical set celebrates the legacy of Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael in one of the most iconic franchises of the era, blending innovative effects, comic-book heart and early ’90s attitude.
