Perfect World Entertainment has confirmed that they’re going to release a free to play, martial arts themed MMORPG called simply Swordsman. The game is based off the classic works of Louis Cha, who is also known as Jin Yong, and is being developed to run in the Angelica 3 engine.

In the game you’ll explore a high flying martial arts themed world set within the Ming Dynasty era of China, think of the experience as something straight out of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. There will be 10 different playable classes, all with their own unique fighting skills that you’ll have to master.

Perfect World’s general manager of publisher, Andrew Brown, confirmed that they’re looking to bring the game to Western audiences:

“Bringing Swordsman to a Western audience is something we’ve wanted to do all along. With its rich story and engaging gameplay, Swordsman is a cultivation of our previous and successful titles we’ve brought over from our parent company Perfect World Inc.”
