After its initial announcement this week, a gameplay video was soon posted to the developer’s youtube which, while short, shows off the kind of combat we can expect to see in this futuristic ARPG.

Wielding a chainsaw, the player winds up and slashes at the frames of enemies…making the combat look a lot like a sci-fi version of Geralt’s own garish weapon flourishes. The best part, however, is when at about 1:45, the player does a slow-mo severing of an enemy torso from its legs.

We’ll be sure to keep an eye on The Surge as it progresses towards its planned multi-platform 2017 release date.
