Super Cloudbuilt Release Dates Set for July 2017

Publisher Double Eleven and developer Coilworks have announced the release dates for Super Cloudbuilt.

The upgraded and expanded relaunch of the stylish platforming-action game will launch on July 25th on PC and PlayStation 4, and on July 28th for Xbox One.

If you pre-order the game on the PlayStation Store, you’ll get instant access to a playable demo – which includes the tutorial, a “Playground” practice area, and three levels from the finished game.

Here’s a rundown on the game, via Double Eleven:

Take on the role of Demi, a young soldier who wakes up in the empty shell of a ruined building, in the center of a strange new world, disconnected from her old life and physical body. With each new challenge she overcomes Demi slowly pieces together the future now laid out before her.

This remastered edition stays true to the original concept with an emphasis on player skill and creativity, but with even more diverse mechanics and a more connected and varied world.

Will Demi learn to understand and accept her new world, or question her reality and learn to defy it?

Key Features:

  • Complete incredible feats of free-running and sharp shooting
  • Run through expansive worlds floating above a vast abyss, use your rocket-powered exo-suite to explore hidden paths and collect power ups to boost your performance
  • Try your hand at 177 challenges and experiment with 3 game modes
  • Features lightning-fast, action-packed speedrunning gameplay: use reflexes and speed to compete for the top position in the leaderboards

The game looked quite good. Putting the demo behind a preorder is a bit of a shitty move, but I’ll likely get it.

The original game was really good. I’m definitely getting the remaster.

Any idea if previous owners will get it as an update or at least get a discount?

I didn’t like the shooting part of the original, I found having to suddenly shoot at something while in the middle of a complicated string of moves very annoying and that the game’s advanced tricks all involved shooting and having to quickly change the direction you’re pointing at, it pretty much forces you to play with a mouse and I really wanted to just sit back on my couch with a controller and play this on the big TV.

From the looks if it, that seems to be the big difference in “Super” Cloudbuilt – it’s designed more with a controller in mind, while the original was definitely designed for mouse and controller support was patched in as an afterthought.

Among other things, based on the PAX demo footage on Youtube, they seem to have added an area-effect shot that doesn’t require charging. That should (hopefully) make having to blast enemies while running a lot less annoying.
