Indie Japanese roguelite game Summer Road gets new publisher Phoenixx

Summer Road

Indie Japanese developer REBUILD GAMES has announced Phoenixx will publish Summer Road when it launches sometime later this year.

Their roguelite RPG that mixes several genres is set to launch sometime later in 2025, for PC (via Steam).

Summer Road will be playable at BitSummit 2025 from July 18th through the 20th at the Phoenixx booth and the Gyaar Studio booth.

Here’s a rundown on the game, plus a recent trailer:

This is an RPG with auto AI that specializes only in hack-and-slash equipment item replacement. Melee weapons? Long range weapon? Recovery? Synthesis? Compatibility between equipped items, etc. Item management is the feature of this game. Enjoy the adventures of Mogumo, a mysterious creature, and three girls.

Features

  • Auto-AI
    • Three player characters move and fight automatically by AI.
    • Each character moves around by AI, and players watch over them as they progress through the game.
  • Hack-and-Slash
    • Through combat, players will randomly obtain equipment that will enhance their characters.
    • The AI actions will vary greatly depending on the combination of equipment, such as “Bat” + “Dash Boots” = “Dash Bat Swing”.
    • Equipment can be replaced in real time, and the player’s main task is to manage the equipment he or she has acquired.
  • 10 Minute RPG
    • The objective of the game is to go eastward, earnestly aiming at the “mysterious light that has fallen far to the east”.
    • Each play is expected to last about 10 minutes, and the outcome of the adventure depends on random events along the way, party building, and route selection.
    • The ultimate goal of the game is to repeat the adventure and reach the true ending.
    • The game is casual in one play, but we aim to provide a satisfying single RPG experience through many adventures.
  • Three Girls
    • Three curious girls are on an adventure.
    • They set out on a summer adventure in search of a mysterious light.
