It seems like Grasshopper Manufacture will do another remaster or sequel for one of their cult classics, Killer7.
The developer wants to work on a new Killer7: Complete Edition of sorts – likely a remaster with extra content – and possibly even a Killer7 sequel of sorts.
The new teases come from a recent behind-the-scenes talk with Grasshopper Manufacture boss Goichi ‘Suda51’ Suda and his longtime collaborator Shinji Mikami, both of whom worked on Shadows of the Damned together.
“I’ve realized that I want to stay as hands-on as possible when it comes to game creation,” Mikami said. “And I’d love to see Suda make a sequel to Killer7.”
Suda was clearly surprised by Mikami’s frankness and replied, “Seriously?!”
“Someday we just may see a Killer7 sequel or a “Complete Edition,” Suda said, only to be cut off by Mikami adding “What matters most is whether or not you want to make it.”
Suda then teased, “I’d rather make a complete edition first. First a complete edition, and then Killer11.”
Mikami, also now surprised, asked “Killer11?” and then Suda clarified “I don’t know – Killer7 something, probably. Maybe Killer7: Beyond.”
Killer7 was originally released back in 2005 for the PlayStation 2 and GameCube and was Suda’s first game released outside of Japan. It was never re-released until 10+ years later when it got a PC/Steam port. The game had an unconventional narrative as its protagonist had seven killer personalities, while also sporting unique cel-shaded visuals and varied gameplay.
Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered will launch on Halloween day, October 31st, for Windows PC (via Steam and the Microsoft Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PS4, and PS5.
