Subnautica 2 delayed to 2026

Subnautica 2

Publisher Krafton and developer Unknown Worlds Entertainment announced a delay for Subnautica 2, their new underwater survival and adventure game sequel.

Originally teased way back in 2022Subnautica 2 will forgo its previously announced 2025 release for one sometime next year, in 2026.

Reasoning behind the game’s delay is from feedback the studio got from a series of playtests they held with the community. While the response to the sequel was positive overall, fans noted some areas that needed to be improved. So, the team wants a “little extra time” to address that feedback.

Whenever the game does launch, it was originally confirmed for Windows PC (via Steam, the Microsoft Store, and the Epic Games Store) and Xbox Series X|S.

To make up for the delay, the team shared a new gameplay teaser:

The team at Unknown Worlds also teased “lots more to share with the community in the coming months” as well as a “few additional surprises as well.” Stay tuned.
