Former leadership from Gearbox Studio Quebec have launched Studio Ricochet, a new independent game developer based in Quebec.
The new developer is focused on making original and premium games, and their first title is an original co-op action-adventure game for PC and consoles.
Founders of Studio Ricochet include the former studio heads at Gearbox Studio Quebec, including: Sebastien Caisse and Pierre-Andre Dery, as well as the former Borderlands creative director Maxime Babin and former Gearbox Studio Quebec creative development director Yanick Piche.
Alongside the majority of former Gearbox leadership is news that veterans from the Call of Duty, Assassin’s Creed, and other big franchise are part of the team, too.
“After years of building within large organizations, we wanted to create a studio that moves faster, stays focused, and takes creative risks,” said Studio Ricochet co-founder Pierre-Andrew Dery in a press release.
Co-founder Sebastien Caisse added, “We’ve assembled a team that knows how to deliver at scale—and we’re deliberately starting lean. We’ll prove the vision first, then grow around it.”
