Sony Computer Entertainment and Capcom have announced some radically different plans for Street Fighter V at this year’s EVO, and its post launch content.

For starters, the game is confirmed to be shipping with a 16 character roster, with four of those characters being entirely new to the series. However, all future characters and content will be earnable for free by players.

Here are the three key tenets for Street Fighter V’s content strategy:

1. The initial release is the only disc you will ever need to own
2. All balance and system adjustments will be available for free
3. All post-launch gameplay related content will be earnable for free by playing the game

In case you’re impatient, you can also purchase these characters by using real-world money. This does mean that you’ll only need to own the original Street Fighter V disc, in contrast to previous releases of games in the series that saw multiple re-releases.
