Street Fighter V March 2016 Update Split Into Two Parts

Capcom has announced the upcoming Street Fighter V March 2016 update will be split into two parts.

The first part will launch on March 28th, and it will include the new “Challenge Mode,” an online rematch option, various bug fixes, gameplay balances, and battle lounge improvements.

Following this on March 30th is the addition of Alex and his story content. Featured above, you can view a new video going over the new update.

You can find a full breakdown of the update below:

  • Challenge Mode
    • Demonstrations: Learn the ins and outs of Street Fighter V through helpful demonstration and tutorial content. Contains content for each of the 16 characters, as well as advice geared towards players of all skill levels:
      • Beginner Tutorials: 12 lessons covering, movement, normal attacks, special attacks, V-System, throws, counter hits, chip/recoverable damage, etc.
      • Intermediate Tutorials: 11 lessons covering projectiles, invincibility frames, armor and armor break, recovery, cross-up attacks, anti-air options, etc.
      • Advanced Tutorials: 4 lessons covering back dashing, frame advantage/disadvantage, combo potential, button priority, etc.
      • Character Tutorials: 16 lessons covering each individual character.
    • Trials: Put your skills to the ultimate test with combo trials for all 16 characters, ranging from basic to pro combos.  Completing Trials will also earn you some extra Fight Money.
  • Online Rematch Option
    • Salty from a close loss online? Want revenge?  Players can now play a 2/3 set in Ranked Match and Casual Matches, provided both players accept the rematch.
  • Battle Lounge Improvements
    • Enjoy up to 8 person lobbies, complete with match spectating.
  • Bug fixes and gameplay balancing
    • Various game bugs have been fixed, along with minor gameplay balancing. For more details please see the previous post.

The second drop will take place on March 30 (WED) at 10AM PT and contains the following content:

  • Alex + related character story content
  • In-Game Shop
    • Fight Money Expenditure: Spend your hard earned Fight Money to purchase extra game content, such as DLC characters (100,000 FM each) and the Story Mode Costumes (40,000 FM each).

The “Zenny” or real-life money purchasing in-game shop won’t be added to the game in this update. Capcom is reportedly looking into this further, as they are concerned over how this will jive with existing users:

One feature that will not be making it into the March update will be the Zenny (real money) functionality of the in-game shop. We have taken a long hard look at this part of the store, and after much review, have decided it is not ready to launch just yet. As Zenny is purchased with real money, we wanted to be extra careful and make sure it’s fully tested and optimized before launching it. There is currently no ETA on the Zenny store and we will release it as soon as it’s ready.

If you were looking to just outright purchase Alex via the Zenny shop, you can try him out for free, until the Zenny shop launches.

Oh, so they’re cutting the update in half the same way the cut half the content out of the released game. Clever…

People who bought this were stuck with a shell of a game and yet when I bought the division at launch it was fully functional some how, the worlds gone all fiddle faddle foop.

Does capcom seriously think these tutorials in Early Access Fighter V will draw in normies/casuals? The second they go online, no amount of tutorials will save them and they’ll quit indefinitely. This obsession with acquiring a new demographic is disgusting.

I don’t really get this. What did 4 have? You’d do 9 crappy AI fights, and a short, zero budget anime cutscene would play at the end. Fighting games having elaborate single player modes has never been a standard, especially not for street fighter. It’s a competitive multiplayer game. Local and online is there and works great, it does everything it promised to do. It’s not like they hid the fact that not all of the features they had planned were implemented yet, there was nothing shady, no false advertising.

Most casual players play those single player modes more than the online

How many Street Fighter fans are out there?

    Now how many Pokemon fans?

Do the fucking math. Pokemon has always outsold Street Fighter in pretty much every generation.

SF5 sucks but I’m not going to support an ugly SJW fighter like KI instead. I’d rather just not play either of them.

I think you mean MKX if you were really meaning an ugly SJW fighter. Skullgirls would’ve count as well seeing how Lab Zero was pretty much SJW pandering in Indivisible is with the characters.

Are you kidding me? KI is the worst culprit of SJW shit by far. Look at how they censored the retro costumes. Look at how they remade the characters. Look at Kim Wu’s reveal trailer for god’s sake, she’s a fucking SJW Mary Sue, another one of these idiotic “UNBELIEVABLY HYPERSTRONG WOMYN WITH AN ATTITUDE” piles of shit. It’s the worst thing since that panel in the Marvel comics about “unsolicited opinions on Israel”.

That’s Capcom for ya nowadays. They not only make shit moves with their current games, but they seem to double down on their own stupidity to the point where even a Pokemon fighting game is beating SF5 in sales.

The tutorials should have been included from the start. Hell, even KI had them when it launched and it lacked an arcade/story mode until that was patched in.

Not sure if troll. Also, you haven’t followed comics enough, because there are worse things Marvel has put out (Squirrel Girl, Hellcat).

  27. Josh
    March 25, 2016 at 12:23 pm

Not trolling. All the evidence clearly shows that KI is an SJW game.

Just pre-ordered S3 and can’t wait to dive in to it. Although, thanks to perfect timing, I’m going to balance between it and the new Tomb Raider expansion that’s also coming next week.

Yes, I have TR10. It was good. Got me to go back and try the earlier Crystal Dynamics TR games. /selfdefense
