While most gaming enthusiasts had their first experience with the Street Fighter series when Street Fighter II first in the arcades and later on the Super Nintendo, its predecessor was a bit different, and it wasn’t really known as well once its sequel became a worldwide hit.

Now that the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection has released, we’ve gotten another look at the entire Street Fighter series, including the original Street Fighter game. The game was first released in arcades back in 1987, only to get re-released for platforms like the Commodore 64, TurboGrafx 16, and even DOS.

The above screenshot (via Frank Cifaldi) is the only known proof of a cancelled NES version of the original Street Fighter. That’s right, Capcom was originally planning on developing the game for the original Nintendo console, and it obviously looks quite different to the game we got in arcades.

It’s worth mentioning the museum feature in the 30th Anniversary Collection includes a bevy of concept art from the Capcom vaults, ranging from the designing of Blanka to how Vega went from a huge grappler to a more catlike fighter, complete with a metal claw.
