Techland and developer inXile Entertainment have shared a new trailer for Torment: Tides of Numenera.
Featured above, you can view a trailer introducing the game’s far-future, post-apocalyptic story.
The game takes place a billion years in the future, where “The Changing God” has mastered the ability of transferring his consciousness into new bodies to escape death. By using forgotten numenera (ancient technology from past civilizations), he cycles through “castoffs,” engineered bodies playing host to his consciousness.
As he leaves the castoffs like a snake shedding its skin, a new consciousness emerges, after which the castoff goes off to live its own life.
The protagonist, known as The Last Castoff, gets discarded at a time when an ancient being known as The Sorrow awakens. This guardian disapproves of the Changing God’s ways, and sets out to wipe out his progeny, alongside himself.
Torment: Tides of Numenera will launch on February 28th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game has several different release versions, including a day-one edition and a limited collector’s edition.
