Last year’s Styx: Master of Shadows may not have been a huge hit according to industry standards, but for Cyanide Studios, their goblinoid stealth game was a big enough success to warrant a return to the theme for another outing. The sequel, titled Styx: Shards of Darkness, just had its E3 trailer quietly revealed, which you can view above.
This time, the sequel will have Styx skulking his way through the winding Tower of Akenash, home to the source of amber, a golden elixir which increases the otherwise frail goblin’s powers.
Using the new Unreal 4 engine and promising larger environments (thanks to a bigger budget), Cyanide Studios promises a much more varied and open-ended style of gameplay than the previous title allowed.
No date beyond a simple “2016” placeholder has been mentioned, but a simultaneous holiday release for consoles and PC seems the most likely.
