Steam tops 40 million concurrent online users

Steam

Valve’s massive PC gaming platform Steam has hit another staggering milestone as it topped 40 million concurrent online users.

The new milestone for Steam topped 40 million concurrent online users was reported by data aggregator Steamdb, noting over 12.5 million users are also actually playing games.

To put things into perspective, Steam now has more concurrent online users than the entire population of Canada, which is estimated to be around 37.59 million people. Poland is also sitting around 37.97 million people, so Steam is officially bigger than a number of countries.

The huge surge of users for Steam is likely spurred by the avalanche of big game releases last month and this month, like the wildly popular Monster Hunter Wilds – which has already topped 1 million concurrent players (just on PC, too).
