Steam Summer Sale Competition is Being Rigged

If you’re a PC gamer like myself, you’ve no doubt been following the Steam Summer Sale page like a hawk scanning a field for its next meal. You may have also noticed that the competition between the color coded teams during this sale has been rather…well…lopsided. It seems like every single day you have one team winning by an embarrassingly large percentage and the next day a different team follows suit in an equally unbalanced victory. It seems too unnatural to be true, doesn’t it?

Apparently, the Steam sale has been rigged by some clever members of the Reddit community.

I hesitate to say rig, since unlike other groups in the past who only want to fix something to benefit them, these reddit users have banded together to make sure everyone has a fair shot at the free games that Valve is giving away through this contest. Agreeing to work together, these users have promised to allow each team color to win two days…a system they feel is much better than leaving it up to chance and seeing one or more teams go the full sale period without winning a day.

Their “schedule” for the sale is as follows:

19th – PURPLE – Thursday
20th – RED – Friday
21st – GREEN – Saturday
22nd – PINK – Sunday
23rd – BLUE – Monday
24th – PURPLE – Tuesday
25th – RED – Wednesday
26th – GREEN – Thursday
27th – PINK – Friday
28th – BLUE – Saturday

What Valve will do about this, if in fact they do (or even can do) anything is anyone’s guess…but if you ask me it’s a noble deed that should be applauded.
