It may sound crazy, and with Valve you never truly know, but it seems that some folks went digging in the data structures of the new Steam beta and came away with an interesting find. No, not the Half-Life 3 release date, but apparently a reference to TV series and Film streaming done via their client.
This might make a bit of sense, considering Steam started using a new renderer for their video playback not too long ago, which greatly improved the usual sluggishness of the client’s media display. Especially in the fullscreen “living room” mode they seem to enjoy flaunting. Not to mention that Steam already offers *some* movies, such as Indie Game: The Movie.
Could Steam be trying to do what Microsoft wanted to do with the Xbox1, that being have their own brand of televised content?
