In advance of the UK Online Safety Act, popular digital PC games platform Steam has added an age verification process on mature game pages.
The details are available on the Steam Support page regarding the issue. Age verification is done by adding a credit card to one’s account.
It’s worth pointing out that naturally – those who’ve already done so in the past won’t be required to perform any further actions.
As noted in our previous report, the Act places the responsibility of assuring users’ safety on the online platforms in order to prevent children from accessing age-inappropriate content.
Some of the more notable platforms include Discord and Xbox, which have already started encouraging their users to confirm their ages earlier this year.
