Valve has suddenly announced that they will be discontinuing their Steam Link device.
This compact device was released at the end of 2015, when Valve was trying to push PC gaming as a living room competitor to consoles. Other products designed to accomplish this included the Steam Controller and the all-but-forgotten Steam Machines. The Steam Link allowed gamers to stream just about every game on Steam from their PC to their TV over a home network.
Valve has stated that the European version is completely sold out, and that the American stock is almost depleted. They will continue to keep the software and Steam Link phone app updated, but no more physical devices will be produced.
You can currently buy a Steam Link for a mere $2.50, or $35.61 when bundled with a Steam Controller.
