Steam Hits 10 Million Concurrent Users

With the latest Steam sale raging on and pillaging our collective wallets and purses, Valve’s distribution platform has reached a new milestone – 10 million concurrent users.

This is a quick surge compared to the 9.5 million concurrent users last month. The platform saw 7 million concurrent users back in December of 2013, followed by 8 million in June of last year.

Are you an avid Steam user? If so, how often do you spend time on the platform?

Log it almost every day. Sometimes it’s just to see who’s online & have a quick chat

I suspect there are a lot of people like me who are logged in almost 24/7 but are only using steam for a few hours a week.

Loads minimised when I turn the PC on turns off when I power down.
No pop-ups, no adverts no hassle, one right-click and I can load up any of 5 recent games or look at the prices/wishlist/library/updates.

Same for me. I don’t allow Steam to turn on during boot, and only manually start it when I’m playing a game that requires it.

Logging in means having 50 people bug me with chats, so I usually stay off anymore. (Nobody take that personally who has me there, I just don’t like being bothered when I game.)

i “use” it 24/7, sometimes i am even in game 24/7. i just keep games i am currently playing loaded in the background until i feel like continuing.

now that they provide refunds, the drm (that is not invasive in my opinion) is the only negative side me thinks

I set it to log me in and appear offline

This. I keep it logged so it keeps updating the games.

I don’t have it on autostart, i only turn it on when i use it, i dont need a program scanning my ram all day for no good reason (yeah yeah, i have my tinfoil cap on), same goes to gog galaxy, origins and uplay, they get run when they are needed and they get closed when they are not

I haven’t run it a lot lately since ive been playing Witcher 2 and 3 i got on GOG but i usually do run it frequently

Im sure it’s just cause of Summer sales, I’d be more interested in seeing them hold those numbers in Fall/Autumn.
