In a pretty staggering turnout, Valve’s Steam platform has managed to beat their previous year record of 6,046,314 users concurrently online with a mind blowing 7,680,086 concurrent users.

The new milestone was reached on December 29th, and has since dropped off a bit but still remains strong. This is a year on year growth, as the six million concurrency was a million larger than the previous years totals.

I think this huge leap in users is probably due to the Steam Holiday Sale going on right now.
