Developer Wolfpack Games have announced Starkeepers, a new MMO where players play as anthropomorphic animals in viking inspired attire.

Starkeepers is coming to PC via Steam early access some time in 2023. In the game, players step into the role of the titular “Starkeepers” whose job is to restore balance to the Astral Realms.

The games takes a low poly approach when it comes to its graphical art style. As players explore the world, they’ll be able to expand by crafting large buildings and eventually create towns that other players likely can attack or simply work with.

Their towns, or clans as it’s called in game, will also include interesting features such as voting and taxation. Meaning there will be a mix of management rather than a simple focus on only protecting it from would-be invaders.

Starkeepers is an action-packed multiplayer online that casts players as Astrals – high dimensional beings capable of space-time magic roaming the multiverse. Venture into mythological epics to take your righteous stand against cosmic threats, or secretly align yourself with different faction powers trying to influence the course of past history.

• The hero with a thousand faces – Learn combat skills from star relics and morph into different ancient warrior heroes. Personalize them with unique attributes, and equip them with occult weapons crafted from gathered materials, or goodies picked off of bested enemies.
• Your version of an epic – Actions have consequences. Both individual and group decisions influence how the narrative unfolds every season. A dynamic questing system brings back the element of surprise. Set out on common objectives, discover the hidden roads less traveled, or go rogue and dive into the deep end, you chart your own story epic.
• An architect of destruction – As a clan, strategize, and custom build your very own Starkeep, then arm it to the teeth. Lay out a labyrinth of bulwarks, mounted guns, turrets, and traps to safeguard your territorial sovereignty. Establish senate halls for voting, treasuries to control taxation, and stables for mount-sharing.
• Talk with your fists – From settling a scuffle with a duel, to an unforeseen clash on a dungeon run, to an all out brawl in a Starkeep siege, resorting to violence is always an option. Double jumps, omni-directional sprinting, ground rolls, and blocking mechanics, all come as standard. Unleash a well-timed combo, and dispatch your rival with spectacular finishing moves.
