Stardock Entertainment has announced Star Control: Origins, a new sci-fi action/adventure game for PC and consoles.
This is the first game in the series in 20 years, and its set for a 2017 release. Featured above, you can view the game’s debut trailer.
Star Control: Origins takes place in the year 2086, where humanity picks up a distress call from an alien ship marooned on the Triton moon – leading to the formation of Star Control.
This new organization is an international collective formed solely to protect Earth. The player steps into the boots of The Captain of the most advanced interstellar ship within Star Control. Your mission: investigate the distress signal.
“We Earthlings are the newcomers to the galactic scene,” said Brad Wardell, Executive Producer.
“The dozen plus space-faring species have been hatching their schemes since before we got out of trees. Now, suddenly, they have to deal with those meddling apes from Sol 3 who threaten to upset the plot.”
You’ll be exploring unique and dangerous alien worlds, establish contact with a multitude of alien races, and naturally get wrapped up in action-filled battles. The game pans out in a procedurally created galaxy, and even features lots of RPG elements as well.
If you’re looking to get in on the Star Control: Origins action sooner, there’s a founder’s program available over on the game’s official website. Pledging $35 will get you access to the upcoming beta program, the Founder’s Vault, mod tools, private journals and more.
