Stardew Valley Creator is Working on His Next Game

While Stardew Valley’s big upcoming multiplayer update is still on the way, game creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone has revealed he’s begun work on his next game.

Today is the 2 year anniversary of Stardew Valley. I’ve got that strange sensation of both the shortest and longest 2 years of my life,” Barone said on Twitter. “Thanks for joining me on this journey everyone. With MP close, my next (secret) game in the works, and more… there’s lots to look forward to.”

It’s worth pointing out that Barone previously confirmed (via r/Nintendo) that his next game “will take place on the same planet as Stardew Valley.” He also pointed out that “it’s not a sequel or expansion in any way.”

“I don’t want to reveal too much at this point, but I am thinking of approaching my next game with a similar mindset to Stardew Valley – take a style of game that was never fully realized (or that changed trajectories, leaving unexplored possibilities), and carry on the tradition in my own weird way,” Barone said.

Stardew Valley publisher Chucklefish is working on their own games like Spellbound (which they say is like Stardew Valley meets Harry Potter), as well as Wargroove (which they say is like Fire Emblem meets Advance Wars). This is the first time we’re hearing official confirmation from Barone on his next game.

Stardew Valley is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. In case you missed it, you can find my review for Stardew Valley here (I highly recommend it).
