Starbreeze has announced they’ve sold the publishing rights for System Shock 3 back to developer OtherSide Entertainment.
Starbreeze will be fully reimbursed for the costs they had incurred with the development on the game, up to this point. Starbreeze had picked up publishing for the title back in 2017, and has been financing part of its development since.
“I believe this is the best solution for us, although it is sad that we cannot complete the project with OtherSide,” Starbreeze acting CEO Mikael Nermark said in a press release. “System Shock 3 is a fantastic title developed in cooperation with the industry legend Warren Spector and I am looking forward to seeing the game released.”
Starbreeze still has publishing rights on both upcoming titles Psychonauts 2 from Doublefine Productions and 10 Crowns from Mohawk Games.
A release window for System Shock 3 has yet to be announced.
