Star Wars: The Acolyte

Disney and Lucasfilm have pulled the plug on the second season for Star Wars: The Acolyte, starring Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-Jae, Manny Jacinto and Dafne Keen.

Lucasfilm has decided against filming a second season (news first confirmed by Deadline), with the decision to can the show being made one month after the series finished airing.

While the Acolyte recorded 4.8 million views since its first episode in June, and Disney plus reporting 11 million views, the series divided the fandom despite slightly favorable professional reviews.

Many viewers claiming that it is inferior to other series like the Mandalorian or Andor. The ending also divided many viewers, and the series casting and tone is too different from the other Star Wars series.

Disney+ has other Star Wars series to be shown, including Skeleton Crew for December, and Andor Season 2 coming next year.
