EA have revealed Star Wars: Squadrons, a 5 v 5 multiplayer dogfighting game.
Across never-before-seen locations such as Yavin Prime and the moon of Galitan, players will control starfighters for both the New Republic and Empire in 5 versus 5 matches. The game will also have a single-player story.
Along with VR on PlayStation 4, the game will also offer cross-play support. It was not specified if this was for all platforms, or if there are limitations.
From the video description we know that players can choose from different classes of ships, modify them, and divert power between the various systems within. The game’s single player story “covers a key campaign near the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War.”
Finally, the description seemingly dissauded any suspicion of pay-to-win mechanics.
“Star Wars: Squadrons is a fully self-contained experience from day one, where you earn rewards through play. Climb the ranks and unlock new components like weapons, hulls, engines, shields, and cosmetic items in a clear path for progression that keeps gameplay fresh and engaging.”
