Director Stig Asmussen has announced his departure from Respawn Entertainment.
Asmussen had served as game director for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and the recently released Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
Work continues on Star Wars Jedi: Survivor as the franchise is still led by “veteran Respawn leaders” with ports still planned for the PS4 and Xbox One version of the game.
In a new statement, an EA representative stated (via Bloomberg). “After careful thought and consideration, Stig Asmussen has decided to leave Respawn to pursue other adventures, and we wish him the best of luck.”
As for the future of the game franchise, there is still nothing confirmed as of this writing. There have been job listings with the developer indicating a follow up and Asmussen had said in the past he aimed to make it a trilogy, but EA has yet to make an official statement.
At the same time, Respawn is also known to be working on multiple Star Wars projects besides Survivor. So it’s entirely possible they may be shifting focus with this departure.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is available now for Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
