Star Citizen gets new update increasing server size, still not fully released

Star Citizen

Star Citizen launched a new update today that will add a slew of new content for players.

Update 3.17.2 launched today and added new vehicles, missions, and dynamic events. But perhaps the most important new change coming to Star Citizen is the announcement that the servers have been updated to allow to double the number of players.

Check out the trailer here:

Before this update, the servers of Star Citizen would allow for 50 players per server. Now, after this update, the servers can handle 100 players.

The new update will also introduce the Siege of Orison, a dynamic event where players will have to kill several Nine Tails lieutenants. After they are dealt with, you will take down the faction leader.

You also can now get involved in delivering illegal goods. These new deliveries will have a higher risk but will deliver higher rewards.

Another change came to the NPCs, who have gotten some improved AI and will have an easier time maneuver around terrain. This is a change that Cloud Imperium Games believes will be a “foundation for future content planned for Star Citizen”

Star Citizen has been in development for ten years and still remains in alpha stage, but Cloud Imperium Games have been steadily adding content and trying to improve the experience. Hopefully we will see the full release of the game, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
