As the combat in Ukraine continues, the future remains unclear for many – despite this the STALKER 2 dev says development will continue, but only after Ukraine’s victory.
Kyiv-based GSC Game World posted a new video update as a response to everyone asking if they’re ok and safe, considering the ongoing combat and destruction in the region.
“The previous week was ages ago,” the developer said. “On the 24th of February, Russia declared war on Ukraine and sent rockets, tanks, and soldiers to our Homeland.”
They added, “Our country is forced to fight for existence again. Seems like this is the price of freedom. This video is our answer to ‘how are you guys?’ question.”
Previously when the war between Russia and Ukraine first broke out, GSC Game World pleaded with fans and industry folk alike to donate to the Ukraine military.
GSC Game World talked up how they’ve had their livelihoods threatened by the conflict, noting game development has been pushed aside as they are “striving to help our employees and their families to survive.”
Despite the news that “game development shifted to the sidelines” due to the war, GSC Game World said “We will definitely continue. After the victory. Glory to Ukraine.”
While the STALKER 2 dev says development will continue, previously GSC Game World delayed the game from its April 2022 release to a release sometime in December 2022. At that time it was understood that the game could be delayed again or possibly cancelled entirely, pending a potential war in Ukraine.
