Square Enix Opens Curious New Densetsu Teaser Website

legend of managa 10-30-14-1

Square Enix has revealed a new teaser site of sorts, with one of those countdown timers Japanese developers love to do.

The website itself is set to reveal something in a week, the only clues being the website’s URL, which contains the word “densetsu” in it, and the text featured on the website, which reads “The legend if resurrected …” prominently above the timer.

What could it be? My guess is another game in the Mana series (hopefully for consoles?) or maybe even something completely nuts like a remake of Legend of Mana, which is one of my all-time favorite RPGs. We’ve even seen Japanese magazine Famitsu chiming in, saying their guess is a Racing Lagoon reboot.

We’ll keep you guys posted.

Yeah I think Square Enix is the master of over-teasing and then crushing the spirit of their fans.

Rather than a Secret of Mana remake, I’m really hoping Seiken Densetsu 3 gets some kind of re-release. It has yet to even be on the Virtual Console, so it’s really overdue for one, especially considering it was among Square’s most popular non-FF titles (and the amount of Riesz fanart persisting to this day utterly astounds me).

Of course, I doubt this announcement’s gonna relate to it in any way, but I really hope there’s something for SD3 soon, be it a port or a full-on remake. I’m trying my best to hold off from just emulating the thing.

It is absolutely inexplicable that Square has not released Secret of Mana 2 in some form. They have ported every single other SNES game multiple times (even Secret of Mana!), but they refuse to localized this game. WHY?
