Square Enix: “No Plans” to Bring Final Fantasy VII Remake to Other Platforms

Following rumors the Final Fantasy VII Remake might be heading to Xbox, Square Enix has gone on the record to say that isn’t happening.

“As previously announced, Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released for the PlayStation 4 on March 3rd 2020. We have no plans for other platforms,” the statement to IGN reads.

The statement is a response to a supposedly mistaken social media post by Xbox Germany, which claimed the game was coming to Xbox One day and date with the PS4 version. The Xbox Germany team quickly deleted the post, and said it was a complete mistake.

While the original Final Fantasy VII was a PlayStation-exclusive for over two decades (the PC and mobile ports don’t really count, ha!), the game was finally ported to Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in March of this year.

In case you missed it, we did a thorough hands-on preview for the game at this year’s E3 – you can read that preview here.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is launching for PlayStation 4 on March 3rd, 2020.
