Square Enix launched their own YouTube music channel

We’ve learned Square Enix launched their own YouTube music channel today, with thousands of musical tracks from their huge pedigree of games through the years.

The new YouTube Channel has over 5,500 music tracks from Square Enix’s very extensive back-catalog of games over more than three decades.

While most of the music is the original compositions you find in their games, there’s also two two-hour DJ remixed playlists for both a relaxing “Lo-Fi Mellow Minstrel Mix” and a more peppy “EDM Airship Cruise Beats” playlist.

Here’s an intro video:

You can search through the music by game, albums, or under the “Square Enix Music” artist name. The game music ranges from the original Final Fantasy, its popular Final Fantasy XIV MMORPG, and of course recent classics like NieR: Automata.

Fans can also search for music by iconic composers’ names like the legendary Nobuo Uematsu, the also talented Yoko Shimomura, among other iconic musical creators. Square also hosted one interview, of which they’re promising to do more interviews with composers in the future.

News that Square Enix launched their own YouTube music channel means anyone trying to upload their own videos with their music or just straight up playlists of original Square Enix music are now completely unable to do so. However, there’s a singular place to listen to all of their music for free now, compared to before having fan accounts shut down.

Square Enix’s entire catalogue will now be content-matched and copyright struck down, even moreso than it was before. Numerous fan accounts that got popular over uploading this copyrighted music have been essentially taken down or gave up over the years, following consistent copyright strikes.
