Square Enix recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of the SaGa series with a collaboration with the Saga prefecture in Japan. Last month, the Rise of Mana producer also talked about wanting to make the next retail game in the Mana series.

Things are getting really interesting with a new interview with Famitsu, we’ve learned that the publisher may be looking to put out a new game in both series.

The interview was between Square Enix mobile developer Takehiro Ando, who actually has his own blog featured on Famitsu.

Usually, he talks to other creators from the company about their smart phone titles, but he let out a tease during an interview with Brave Frontier producer Eiji Takahashi:

“There’s a lot more for us here at the tenth business division. It’s been decided that the second mobile division [the branch that Ando is the producer of] will be help develop [the SaGa and Mana series].

We’ll be doing our best to remain faithful to all of your memories of the Super Famicom and Playstation era. To our fans who are saying ‘I want to play Romancing SaGa 4’ or ‘I want to play Seiken Densetsu 5!’, that’s all I can say for now.”

He elaborated on this new development within Square:

“With that said, we will continue to support the teams so that we can release something just as beautiful as what you fans fondly remember with your experiences in the Super Famicom and Playstation days. In regards to the SaGa franchise, there will be something later this year, and Mana will also be celebrating its 25th anniversary, so we’d like to work hard towards celebrating that.”

Ando didn’t outright say whether the next SaGA and Mana games are coming to traditional consoles or mobile platforms, but he did mention that his team will be helping out with new games in both of the series.
