We’ve learned that Square Enix is considering a PC version of tri-Ace’s upcoming flagship RPG, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness.
The news comes from an older interview (as discovered by NeoGAF) between producer Shuichi Kobayashi and FFDream.
You can find the relevant part of the interview below:
FFDream: Do you plan to make a PC port of Star Ocean 5?
Kobayashi: Because it’s a fast paced action title, I’m wondering what would be the best way to play it on PC… According to you, what would be the best way to play it?
FFDream: With a controller?
Kobayashi: But in Europe, are people used to playing on PC with a controller?
FFDream: Yes.
Kobayashi: I see. Of course, if you have a controller, you can play it without any trouble, but I wonder how to do it for those who don’t have one. That’s our main worry and that’s the reason why we decided on a later release of a PC version, to think of a control scheme for players without a controller.
The ASKA engine, which is used by tri-Ace to develop Star Ocean 5, allows for fairly easy PC ports, so if we find out a way to solve the control scheme issue, the port would be pretty easy for us, although I can’t promise that it would be fast.
Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness is launching for PlayStation 4 in North America next Tuesday, June 28th, followed by July 1st in Europe.
