We’ve gotten some more teasing from Square Enix regarding the 25th anniversary of the Seiken Densetsu series.

The news comes from a new interview over on Famitsu (via Games Talk) where Rise of Mana producer Masaru Oyamada and PS Vita version producer Yusuke Suda talked up the publisher’s upcoming plans.

We’ve compiled the relevant quotes below:

Lastly, do you have anything for the fans who have been waiting for the PS Vita Release (for Rise of Mana)?

Yusuke Suda: In 2016, Seiken Densetsu will be celebrating its 25th anniversary, so we’re now planning a re-launch of the brand. Rise of Mana is coming the first property to launch this new development. Depending on how this is received, our plan may change, but for now we’re hyping up this as much as possible. After this, Oyamada will develop the next generation of Seiken Densetsu, so I’ll be sure to pass the reins to him (laughs).

-the pass was great (laughs).

Masaru Oyamada: Sadly there’s not much I can say at this point (laughs). In making Rise of Mana free-to-play, we’re trying to get a lot more people to play the game, this includes both fans of the previous games, and newcomers who never have. With the game being free-to-play, I want people to just try it. In regards to the Seiken Densetsu series, with next year being the 25th anniversary, we’re making development-related preparations. When the time is right, we’ll be revealing new information.

Finally, back in June of last year, Oyamada did say that he wants to release Seiken Densetsu 5 within two years, and that he believes “fans want it on home consoles.” This blatant tease is obviously coinciding with the preparations Square Enix is making for the series’ 25th anniversary, next year.
