It should come as no surprise that Square Enix is considering porting both Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The tease came from an interview with game co-director Tai Yasue, via IGN:

“When we first came up with the idea for Kingdom Hearts III, it was always 1.5, then 2.5 and we were always thinking about those three titles at the same time. I think [putting the games on PS4] is something we’ll explore. We understand what our players want, so we will explore the possibility. I’m not making any announcements though, we can’t make any announcements yet!”

Kingdom Hearts III is coming to both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and Xbox-only gamers haven’t had the chance to play the previous games, so an Xbox One port of the games would be nice. However, when asked about this, Yasui did point out that an Xbox One port is less likely as their developer resources are stretched a bit thin:

“It’s a big old question. There’s a lot of things we need to think of when we consider consoles. One of them is what our players want, so we will definitely consider that. But there’s also schedule constraints, as we really don’t want the development of Kingdom Hearts III going later, so we have that to think about. We’ll consider all these things and come to a decision.”

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix was launched today on PlayStation 3 in North America, while our European fans get the game this Friday.
