Square Enix Details What’s to Come in Final Fantasy XIV’s 3.1 Update

FFXIV 10-15-2015 - 12

Final Fantasy XIV’s Lodestone has posted two new previews for 3.1, one for the coming main scenario, and a second detailing a bit of the Void Ark, which is the new 24-man raid coming for 3.0.

To begin with the main scenario will pick up right where 3.0 left off – with Ishgard struggling toward a new tomorrow. With the events that took place on Azys Lla, Ishgard is left trembling with its iron-clad pillars of faith crumbling right under the nation’s feet.

Now, they begin to strive toward a future that will put the destructive and bloody Dragonsong War behind them.

While it’s not clear what we may see in the coming storyline, hopefully we’ll see a bit more information surrounding the teasers at the end of 3.0. Especially the Warrior of Light’s natural enemy.

As for the coming raid, anyone who plays the game has surely heard of the ship that’s been spotted around The Sea of Clouds and The Churning Mists.

That mysterious UFO that’s out there is, in fact, the location for the next 24-man raid. Known as the Void Ark, it seems like it’s essentially a ghost pirate ship. This is what the Lodestone said regarding it:

With advances in the usage of airships and amidst the arrival of the so-called “Great Sky Age,” there are those who ride their own airships through the skies seeking hidden lands and mystery. They are known as “sky pirates.”
There has been a rumor spreading amongst the sky pirates of a ghost ship wandering across the skies – an ark filled with evil power that was created long ago by mages to run from cataclysm.

The raid will require a minimum Item Level of 175, though it’s unclear what ilvl gear will drop from the dungeon yet. It may, unfortunately, not even hold a candle to the Esoteric gear, which many players are already fully decked out in.

You can check out the armor designs below here, as well as see the design of a new minion. While it’s not for sure, it’s probably quite likely the Cait Sith-like cat is the minion drop for the Void Ark.
