Square Enix and NieR Creator Taro Yoko Announce SINoALICE for Mobile

Square Enix and NieR creator Taro Yoko have announced SINoALICE for mobile devices.

The game will be helmed by Taro himself as creative director, with assistance from Pokelabo (mostly known for mobile games) in development.

Featured above, you can view the debut trailer for the game. The game’s genre isn’t quite clear, but its being poised as totally something Taro would make, so be prepared to want to kill yourself.

The free-to-play game will be released sometime this Spring in Japan for iOS and Android devices, and will have in-app purchases. An original story penned by Taro is promised, alongside a unique and detailed world.

You can pre-register for the game over on its official website.

Interested in the appearance of the Angelic language appearing here. Might have some slight connection to Drakengard/NieR thanks to that. More likely just a stylistic, creative holdover from Taro Yoko, but fun to hope.

I’d play it if it came west, if for nothing else but another Taro Yoko penned tale.

Maybe someone who speaks Japanese can help elaborate on what’s going on in the trailer for me.

The narrator is reminiscing of a story someone used to read him/her when they were little. It’s a story about beautiful princesses, and brave warriors.

However, the characters of this story are wandering around inside of a trapped world, called “Library”. All of them have one wish, to revive the creator of the story.

That’s basically the gist I got from it. The calling card of the video seems quite funny to me, as it says “これは最悪の物語”, and unless “最悪” changed meanings last time I checked, it basically translates to “It’s the worst of stories.”.

I wouldn’t trust myself because I’m merely N5, but on the advent that Square Enix locks their comment sections for some reason, this is the best next thing. Nevertheless, seems interesting enough, and it’s Yoko Taro so I’ll probably give it a check. Cheers!

No, the VA’s unlisted. I’ve checked the website and twitter and unless I’m missing it, I couldn’t find it.

Since it’s a Square Enix joint, it might be one of the same kiddos that sang “Pascal” in the Nier Automata OST. You’d have to go through the game’s credits to hopefully find it out.
