Independent developer 1047 Games has announced an open beta test for Splitgate 2, their new free-to-play multiplayer shooter sequel for multiple platforms.

Splitgate 2 is launching an open beta on May 22nd across Windows PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and PS5.

Here’s a rundown on the open beta, plus a trailer:

1047 Games is ready to welcome you to Splitgate 2, the greatest sport of the future, with the highly anticipated portal-filled first-person shooter’s Open Beta on May 22. 

The unique free-to-play shooter arrives on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, with crossplay across all platforms.

As shown in the teaser, the Open Beta will have:

• a 25+ Weapons – featuring the brand new Borealis, an energy carbine power weapon
• a 15+ Maps – including two new massive 24-Player Onslaught maps, Drought and Fracture
• a 10+ Modes – with fan-favorite Takedown making its triumphant comeback, where teams battle to eliminate all members of the opposing team before they can respawn 

And the devs at 1047 Games also teased the idea of “infinite” maps. They promise to reveal exactly what that means soon, along with a full breakdown of all of the other content in Splitgate 2’s Open Beta, closer to May 22.
