Nintendo has announced they’re ending new post-launch support for Splatoon 3, meaning the popular third-person shooter is going on maintenance mode.
Splatoon 3 held its final and biggest Splatfest this past weekend, the culmination of two years of post-launch support for the game. Now, the game will recycle old events while servers remain online.
“After 2 INK-credible years of Splatoon 3, regular updates will come to a close,” Nintendo said in a statement. “Don’t worry! Splatoween, Frosty Fest, Spring Fest, and Summer Nights will continue with some returning themes!”
Here’s a recap video from all the various Splatfests held in Splatoon 3, running up to its final one:
While Nintendo confirmed they’re ending regular content updates for Splatoon 3, they did confirm the popular ink-themed shooter will still get Monthly Challenges, balancing updates, and minor fixes while recycling through its Splatoween, Frosty Fest, Spring Fest, and Summer Nights events.
Furthermore, the game will also still operate its Big Run, Eggstra Work, and Monthly Challenges “for the time being.” The game’s last premium content pack, “Side Order,” was released back in February 2024.
Splatoon 3 has been available since 2022 for Nintendo Switch. Check out our review here!
