Splatoon 2 Has LAN Play, Spectator Mode

Nintendo has announced some new features for Splatoon 2.

The game will have both LAN play, as well as a spectator mode, news confirmed during their Tokaigi 2017 stage event.

The LAN play will enable up to ten docked Nintendo Switch consoles, including eight players and two spectators. You’ll have to be connected via a wired ethernet connection, and set everything up via a Private Battle tournament.

Private Battles enable are made up of closed rooms where players can have four on four matches. Spectator mode enables two extra players to join the game as spectators, capable of switching between a map view and a third-person view of each character.

In case you missed it, Nintendo confirmed a global, free demo for the game after the Nintendo Switch launch, from March 24th to the 26th. You can read more about that here.

Splatoon 2 will be released sometime in Q2 or Q3 of this year, for the Nintendo Switch. The Nintendo Switch will launch on March 3rd.
