Japanese developer Spike Chunsoft is primarily known for their Danganronpa series, and while they currently don’t have a new franchise game officially confirmed, they’re hiring for new work related to the series.
The news comes via new job listings, where they’re looking to hire a new 3D designer, a new character designer, and a new game programmer.
The job listing specifically mentions work on PlayStation 4 and PS Vita, and that they’ll be working on an action game, and that they will be mainly involved with Danganronpa. Sounds like they’re ramping up development, doesn’t it?
The latest game in the series to be released worldwide is Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, which is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. The series is typically focused on its adventure-thriller style it’s most famous for, however it has seen 3D-action spinoffs like Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls.

November 16, 2017 at 6:02 pmAfter all the twists and turns, government conspiracies, the cult-like worship of despair itself, the surviving students forming a freedom-fighter style group to rebuild their broken world and truely live up to their titles as the hope for humanities’ future
last chanceevery DanganRonpa game is a reality TV show (presumably in a dystopian world or country). Contentants willingly apply since they hate their lives, humanity, or were kidnapped. They then have their memories re-written to the point they can have new memories, personalities, and even talents- Super HighSchool whatever. Every contestant is basically tailored for the audience and their original personalities could have been very different. The mastermind of that game makes thin analogies at the end between how the audience/player is the real mastermind behind all Dangan Ronpa seasons/games since they support it and keep wanting to see murder. I can understand the anger some people have had to the ending. All the investment they put into the characters and world- and it’s all
fake. Twists like that are fine if there’s a hint or two, but otherwise
it’s “punishing people for being invested”.
While I think this matches the tone of the series brilliantly (and maybe the twist was deliberately of that nature to induce “despair”, or a twisted joke), I can see why people didn’t like it. Some of the localization people weren’t happy about either- so that probably doesn’t help.

November 17, 2017 at 2:07 amI spoiled the ending for myself when it released in Japan, and without getting into it too much, it’s a very conflicting and frustrating ending, yet at the same time it feels like that’s the intent and it’s oddly fitting. I just wish it was a bit more subtle.

November 17, 2017 at 10:23 amWow fuck, I missed that. Makes sense that it would be a spin-off game though, and not a mainline given V3’s ending.
