Freedom Games is publishing SoulBlade Studio’s promising 2D hack & slash SoulQuest, which is seeking more funding on Kickstarter.
The game is seeking at least $50,000 in funding, and so far has managed to reach a little over half of that. Thankfully, the game is on track to reach its funding goal within the next eleven days, with the possibility of an extra $5,000 or so asccording to Backerkit.
In SoulQuest, you play for Alys, a woman knight from the village of Cetonia. Alys is married to the mightiest knight in the world: Gwydre. At the very start of the game, an army of demonic monsters invades Cetonia, killing almost everyone – including Gwydre. Alys survives.
Grieving her husband, and enraged at the monsters who kill him and the other villagers, Alys searches the remains of the village to find other survivors. She discovers a druid named Abanus, who reveals to her that there is a way to bring souls back from the dead. To do this, she will need to defeat Morrigan, the Goddess of Death.
So begins the hack & slash adventure of SoulQuest. Equipped in heavy-duty armor and seething in righteous fury, Alys goes to war against the Celtic gods and their monsters.
She’ll grunt and slash her way through them in her quest to bring back to life her husband and all the other humans who were killed in Cetonia. The game looks fun, and with the interesting premise, I think SoulQuest will have no problems reaching its audience.
SoulQuest is in development for Windows PC (via Steam) and Nintendo Switch, with a release set for the first quarter of 2026.
