Soul Reaver remasters undo controversial change to statue

While fans were overjoyed to hear Soul Reaver 1 and 2 are getting remastered, a controversial change to the game had some fans upset.

That change, seen above, altered the appearance of an in-game glyph statue to one that fans said looked a lot less feminine, androgynous even.

Fans will likely be overjoyed to find out this change has been undone and the statue was made to look more like the original games, news confirmed by Raina Audron, director on the remasters.

“The statue that has caused so many complaints among certain compartments of the fandom, that has been reworked,” a friend of Audron’s said (in place of Raina).

He added, “As you get with trailers these days, it was indeed a work in progress and things will continue to be worked on.” Here’s a look at the newly reworked face:

Even though Raina doesn’t appear in the majority of the video recapping everything shown for the remasters thus far, she does make an appearance at the end to deliver a special message to fans of her YouTube channel.

Before working at Aspyr Media on the Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered collection as an environmental artist, Audron ran a fan website and the aforementioned YouTube channel dedicated to the Legacy of Kain series. More recently Audron has been giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at both Soul Reaver remasters.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered is set to launch on December 10th across Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PS4, and PS5.
