Here’s a rundown on the game, plus a new trailer:
When Miho steps into the pantry to get a potato for his grandmothers’ soup, he’s pulled into a distant fantastical land where he must retrace the steps of a mysterious great traveler before him. He must venture through a world of wonderous rainforests, teetering towns, and talking beasts, outsmarting thieves and meeting quirky characters along the way. But each time he returns to the kitchen with an ingredient, things have changed in unexpected ways… Venture forth in the search for Nana’s exotic ingredients and learn the secret behind SOPA…
History
SOPA is a story about a place you don’t see very often in a voice you don’t hear very often. Crafted by Juan Castaneda and Nelson Guevara, this narrative is rooted in their Latin American heritage. It presents a vivid portrait of growing up in Colombia – a land where the fantastical is woven into the fabric of daily life. It’s about place where yellow butterflies surround those who have love in their hearts, where ghosts sit comfortably for breakfast alongside the rest of the family, where cows grow as big as houses, and where family is the cornerstone of life. This is the teams’ everyday experience. SOPA springs from this Latin American experience, and from the slowly fading local customs, gradually eclipsed by a homogenizing global culture. It’s about the things that we pass along. It’s about appreciating those things that we take for granted and remembering those things we forgot we had forgotten. We hope SOPA will be a game that reminds you to call your Nana. Sopa has been supported by the wonderful team at id@xbox, and is coming to Game Pass in 2024.
