Sony responded to allegations of sexual discrimination

Sony responded to allegations

We’ve learned Sony responded to allegations of sexual discrimination, all of which come from an ongoing lawsuit against the company.

While the company’s lawyers previously tried to get the initial allegations thrown out of court, several more women came forward with similar stories. A new statement where Sony responded to allegations of sexual discrimination.. doesn’t actually deny anything.

“To be sure, SIE takes the substance of the newly submitted declarations seriously,” the company’s lawyers said in a new court filing (via Axios).

They added, “Although most are by former employees who no longer work at SIE, SIE either has addressed or will address the issues raised in them in due course, as SIE values its female employees and takes proactive steps to ensure they have every opportunity to thrive and be heard.”

The original lawsuit was filed by former PlayStation IT staff Emma Majo, who alleges that she was fired after submitting a statement to management detailing systemic sexism she purportedly experienced at the company. Majo then filed the paperwork to turn the case into a class action lawsuit, after which eight more women came forward.

Majo and the other plaintiffs allege that Sony discriminates against women at an institutional level. Most of the allegations specify preferential treatment for male employees, which tend to get all of the promotions and praise from management, while some have specific allegations of sexual harassment.
